Week 2: The Stereotype of Teenagers

MYTH: Teenagers are irresponsible.

NO. Don't assume ALL of us are irresponsible. There are adults that are irresponsible as well. I am responsible. But the two things that weaken me are my ADD and my forgetfulness. My forgetfulness makes me somewhat irresponsible but with everything else, I'm good.

MYTH: Being a teenager is ‘just a phase’.

The word teenager wasn't even common until the 1950's. It was used to describe the new generation's youth with more social freedom and adventure. But how these people act are THEIR ACTIONS and NOT JUST THEIR AGE. The teenage years are kind of what forms people. It is a tough time but a lot of adults still act like teenagers. whether it be their mentality, life decisions, or if they try to "stay hip" when they are just... old.

MYTH: Teenagers are selfish.

AGAIN, ITS THE PERSON!!!! It is how they are raised and who they chose to make their idol.

MYTH: Teenagers are promiscuous.

Yes, sexuality is getting very social and out there. Our generation has loose morals. i do agree with that. it actually makes me sick. sex should be a spiritual thing. but ten again, our generation has tons of ideas of spirituality. All of this makes me angry. UGHH.

THERE ARE SOOO MANY MORE AND THEY ALL GET ME FIRED UP!!!!!!!

  1. I agree. I hate that so many adults say we're lazy and selfish and irresponsible when really we can be much better than that. It's what you put into yourself
